PROJECT SUMMARY:
This bio-stabilization job consisted of creek bank
stabilization and vegetated gabion baskets to control erosion.
PROJECT SOLUTION:
Over 500 cubic yards of vegetated gabion baskets, 2,500 tons of
MoDot Type 2 rock and 4 inch thick erosion control blankets
were used in this project. A turf reinforcement mat was
used above the wall supplemented by native plantings.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Crews has to excavate six feet below grade into the creek
bottom in order to begin the wall at the proper engineering
height. This was necessary to stabilize a sanitary sewer
line running parallel with the creek within only a few feet of
the new wall. This also meant a muddy and messy start to
the project.
